HOW IT WORKS

From November 2 (20.00 CET / 8 PM) on until November 18 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM) a new sign-up phase starts. You need to sign up to participate in the race phases that will happen from November 19 (0.01 CET / 12.01 AM) to November 27 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM). So make sure to register! All data from the country races is on zero again. After every stage of the tournament (Group Stage, Semi-Finals, Finals) all data will be again on zero. So teams need to deliver and deliver again.

THE TOURNAMENT

GROUP STAGE:
Timing: November 19 (0.01 CET / 12.01 AM) – November 22 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM)

32 qualified teams compete in 4 groups of 8 each. You will race against 7 other teams in your group. The best 2 teams per group qualify for the knock-out semi-finals.

SEMI FINALS:
Timing: November 23 (0.01 CET / 12.01 AM) – November 25 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM)

8 squads are still in the game. Group Stage results get deleted, a new delivery is necessary. You will race in knock out mode in 4 races. The 4 winners will qualify for the On SquadRace Finals.

FINALS:
Timing: November 26 (0.01 CET / 12.01 AM) – November 27 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM)

4 squads are still in the game. Semi-finals results get deleted, a new delivery is necessary. You will race against 3 other teams in the finals. The team with the fastest overall time will be crowned European On SquadRace champion.

Rules within the stages:

Log in at least one 5k race per crew member (You can log in multiple 5k races. Your fastest 5k counts for the 5k average team time, others count as kms)
Race as many km as possible within the stages → get 1sec average team km time reduction
Motivate as many participants as possible to log in runs for your team → to get 1sec per runner time reduction.

SQUADRACE FAQs

Do I need to be part of a squad to take part?
Yes, all runners in the SquadRace Finals compete as part of a qualified squad.

How big should my squad be?
Any squad must have at least seven runners. There is no maximum limit on your squad size (although you'll only accumulate seconds for your first 100 runners during race phases). All squads must be at least 30% female.

When can I register?
Registration runs from November 2 (20.00 CET / 8 PM) until November 17 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM).

How do I record a run?
Track your runs with any tracking app, then — once the race is live and your squad log-in page is active — simply enter your time and distance. Upload a screenshot or link to your activity as proof.

How do squads accumulate time?
Your overall team time per race phase accumulates from:

• The average 5k speed of all your squad members.
• Minus the total average km run per squad member (1 sec reduction per average km)
• Minus the size of your squad (1 sec reduction per team participant up to your 100th runner)

How can I track my squad's performance?
You can visit the live On SquadRace scorecard to see where you stand and what you need to do to overtake your rivals.

What prizes are available?

Winner prizes finals:

The top four squads on the final round:
• First place: 2000 CHF
• Second place: 1500 CHF
• Third place: 1000 CHF
• Fourth place: 500 CHF

Split of the prizes: You can use 50% for your team (equipment, race tickets, gear, or other) and donate the other 50% to an organization* that is close to your hearts. (*On reserves the right to audit the selected organization)

When, how, and where will the finals take place?
The SquadRace races take place from November 19 (0.01 CET / 12.01 AM) to November 27 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM).
November 19 – 22 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM): Group stage
November 23 – 25 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM): Semi finals
November 26 – 27 (23.59 CET / 11.59 PM): The finals

Participation example:
Team A qualified for the finals and now is ready to compete.

— Sign Up Phase: 34 Runners sign up within November 2-18. All those signed up can run for their team.
— Group Phase: from those 34 members, 30 go out and record at least one 5k Race, plus collect km. So, the team average time results from the average 5k time minus the number of runners (-1sec per runner) minus the average km amount per team member (-1sec per average km).
— Semi Finals: Team A got second in their group and qualified for the Semi Finals. In the Semi Finals, just 20 members of the team show up for the semi-finals and log in at least one 5k race. So, the team gets reduction from their new 5 km average time for 20 runners minus the reduction for the average team km in the Semi Finals period.
— Finals: Team A won the Knock-Out Semi Finals. In the Finals now 32 runners show up again and log in at least one 5k race. So, the team gets a reduction of 32 runners minus the reduction from the average team km from their new 5k average time in the finals.

Timesystem

Speed
Average time of all accumulated fastest 5k times of all Squad members.
The faster, the better.

Example:
Squad A: ∅ 18:51
Squad B: ∅ 21:59
Squad C: ∅ 17:29

Perseverance
Average km per Squad member
1 second bonus per average kilometer

Example:
Squad A: ∅ 75 k = 75 seconds
Squad B: ∅ 110 k = 110 seconds
Squad C: ∅ 65 k = 65 seconds

Power
Amount of Squad members with a 5 k time.
1 second bonus per runner (up to 100 runners)

Example:
Squad A: 35 runners = 35 seconds
Squad B: 27 runners = 27 seconds
Squad C: 10 runners = 10 seconds

Total
Cumulative number of all times

Speed – Perseverance – Power = Total

Example:
Squad A: 18:51 minutes – 75 seconds – 35 seconds = 17:01 total time
Squad B: 21:59 minutes – 110 seconds – 27 seconds = 19:42 total time
Squad C: 17:29 minutes – 65 seconds – 10 seconds = 16:14 total time
